Afghanistan's renowned cricketer, Rashid Khan, faced a setback with a back injury demanding minor surgery. Currently undergoing treatment, his teammate Mujeeb Ur Rahman extended warm wishes for a swift recovery. Rashid, the reigning top-ranked T20 bowler globally, was set to continue his seventh-year stint with the Adelaide Strikers in the upcoming BBL.

Having contributed to Afghanistan's competitive World Cup run in India, Rashid had initially considered skipping the BBL in protest of Australia's cancelled ODI series. Now, facing a looming absence due to injury recovery, his teammate and close friend, Mujeeb, expressed heartfelt wishes for Rashid's swift recuperation on social media. Mujeeb shared picture of Rashid on 'X'  and wrote, “May Allah gave you speedy recovery, Get well soon Champion @rashidkhan_19."

Rashid and Harry Brook emerged as the leading picks in the BBL draft for the upcoming 2023/2024 season. Rashid remained with the Adelaide Strikers as a retained player, whereas Melbourne Stars acquired Brook. He notably contributed to Afghanistan's ODI World Cup campaign, propelling them into the Champions Trophy contention with his impactful performance.

ACB releases statement on Rashid Khan’s injury

The Afghanistan Cricket Board reported that the wrist spinner has undergone a minor lower-back surgery in the UK and is on track for a swift recovery. His pivotal contributions in victories against teams like England and Pakistan during the World Cup in India were highlighted by the ACB in their statement, praising the top surgeon who conducted his operation.

"Afghanistan's cricket sensation, @rashidkhan_19, underwent a minor lower back surgery with the expertise of renowned surgeon Dr. James Alibone in the UK. He has been rested for a brief while and is expected to recover soon," said the ACB statement on X.
