'My name is now attached to just promoting the game, but I've still got it I guess' - Virat Kohli jokingly addresses his cricketing skills
After the match, during the presentation, Kohli shared his reflections on his enduring bond with fans at Chinnaswamy, emphasizing the significance of creating lasting memories in sports.
In the 6th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by four wickets at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru courtesy of a masterclass by none other than the maestro himself, Virat Kohli. The RCB opener's brilliant knock (77 off 49) helped RCB secure their first win of the season.
Receiving the Orange Cap and the Player of the Match award, Kohli spoke to Harsha Bhogle during the post-match presentation ceremony. He reflected on the match and how his innings fared, but at the same time he felt disappointed to not have finished the game, falling prey to a delivery by Harshal Patel as he was caught in the deep by Harpreet Brar.
Additionally, the 35-year-old also added that he is aware of his popularity, and how his name has been associated with the game to promote T20 cricket across different parts of the world. Jokingly, the New Delhi-born told Bhogle that he thinks he still has a lot of skills left in him to be one of the best batters in the world.
“I know my name is now attached to just promoting the game in different parts of the world when it comes to T20 cricket. But I've still got it I guess” Virat said laughingly.

Kohli expressed disappointment at not finishing the game but was satisfied with his performance after a two-month break.
“Disappointed, I couldn't finish the game. Was in the slot (the ball on which he got out) but sliced it to deep point. Not a bad start — playing after two months and getting into the tournament. They (PBKS bowlers) know I play the cover drive well, so they're not going to allow me to hit gaps. With guys like KG (Kagiso Rabada) and Arshdeep (Singh) hitting length, you have to create some momentum with the ball. Once you're closer to the ball, you negate the bounce and meet it earlier. You have to come up with a game plan here and there,” he added.

The love, appreciation, and the backing I've received has been amazing, says Kohli
Furthermore, the star cricketer shared his reflections on his enduring bond with fans at Chinnaswamy, emphasizing the significance of creating lasting memories in sports.
“It's been going on for years (love story with fans at Chinnaswamy). People talk about a lot of other things when you play sport — achievement, stats, numbers. But when you look back, it's the memories you create. Rahul (Dravid, the India head coach) bhai in the change room says the same nowadays. When you play, play your heart out because you're going to miss these times. The love, appreciation, and backing I've received has been amazing,” the Bengaluru opener expressed.
