Pacer Jasprit Bumrah gradually drew Taskin Ahmed to lose the plot by changing the line and length, every now and then. The variations included a barrage of bouncers and Taskin received a pep talk from Mehidy Hasan Miraz, saying “Well Played”.

But the subsequent delivery just rattled the timber of Bangladeshi paceman in trademark Bumrah style. The star India pacer bowling the fourth delivery of his 10th over, unleashed his most cherished weapon, Yorker. The southpaw could not move his legs and swung the bat half-heartedly.

However, he had no answer to the sheer precision of the ball. The leather traversed the length of the deck opted for a quick dip and bifurcated the middle and leg stumps as the bails went away in flash. As a result, the stumps were rattled thereby savouring the most delightful sight for a fast bowler.

On Day 2 of the first Test against Bangladesh, Jasprit Bumrah accounted for four wickets conceding 50 runs in his 11 overs. He commences the downfall of Bangladesh’s batting lineup by sending Shadman Islam packing on the final ball of the first over. He later dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim and Hasan Mahmud. Bangladesh’s first innings saw an end with just 149 runs on the board and handing over India a hefty lead of 227 runs.

With Taskin’s wicket, Bumrah crossed the milestone of 400 wickets in international cricket. The right-arm pacer has 149 wickets in ODIs, 89 in T20Is, and 162 victims in Tests. Particularly in red-ball cricket, he has been in splendid form with an average of 20.7 and a strike rate of 45.17.
