Tamim Iqbal appointed as Bangladesh's ODI captain ahead of their much-awaited Pakistan tour
After making his ODI debut in 2007 against Zimbabwe, Tamim Iqbal has gathered 7202 runs in One-day Internationals at an average of almost 37.
Tamim Iqbal, who dazzled in the ODI series against Zimbabwe by amassing 310 runs in three matches, will be aiming to replicate his stellar form in the upcoming T20I series as well. The left-hander registered brilliant scored of 158 and 128* in the second and third ODI against Zimbabwe respectively. Over the years, he has cemented his place in the side and has emerged as a vital cog for the Tigers.
In a move to felicitate the 30-year-old’s sublime form and contribution to his national side, Tamim has been appointed as Bangladesh’s ODI captain. The move of assigning the captaincy to the left-hander was announced after BCB conducted a meeting on Sunday. Regarded as a pivotal component of Bangladesh’s top-order batting unit, the Chittagong-born batsman boasts an impressive record in One-day Internationals.

Tamim’s experience of donning the Bangladesh jersey in 207 ODIs so far will be crucial for Tigers’ future expeditions under his leadership.
Bangladesh are slated to lock horns with Pakistan in one-off ODI next month
After decimating Zimbabwe 3-0 in their previous ODI series, Bangladesh are slated to play a two-match T20I series with them starting from 9 March. Post the culmination of the T20I series, all eyes will be on Tamim Iqbal to steer his side to the victory in a one-off ODI against Bangladesh.
The Tigers will be travelling to Pakistan after much persuasion and discussions to play a solitary ODI on 1 April, followed by the second Test of the two-match Test series starting from 5 April. In the first Test of the series which was played on the Bangladesh soil, the Tigers bowed down against the visitors as Pakistan registered a thumping victory by a margin of an innings and 44 runs. Bangladesh will be aiming to retaliate and oust Pakistan on their home in the upcoming ODI and Test.
