2. Sanath Jayasuriya & Roshan Mahanama – 576 v India:
The 1st Test between India and Sri Lanka in 1997 was a very high scoring match at Colombo. When India posted a first innings score of 537, Sri Lanka hit back with 952/6 declared. After losing Atapattu early, opener Jayasuriya joined hands with Roshan Mahaname to put on 576 runs for the 2nd wicket. Jayasuriya went on to score a triple century and ended with 340 runs under his name. His wicket fell when the scorecard read 615 runs. His partner Mahanama was dismissed in the previous over for a score of 225 as he was trapped in front of the stumps by Anil Kumble who broke the record partnership.
