3. Kenya beat Sri Lanka by 53 runs in Nairobi, 2003

Kenya who after the start in 1996 were becoming a decent ODI side. But what they did in 2003 would not have been imagined by any of the experts on the game. Not only did they beat a very good & experienced side like Sri Lanka, also managed to reach the Semifinals of the World cup. This was a first for any Associate member. Kenya managed a decent score of 210 from their 50 overs. For Kenya, Kennedy Otieno scored 60 runs with Vaas & Murali doing the damage for Sri Lankan team picking up 3 & 4 wickets respectively. Sri Lanka with its experience & long batting were favorites to win the game. Kenya led by leg spinner Collins Obuya, who picked up 5 wickets for 24 runs to beat Sri Lanka by 53 runs had scripted another greatest upset in the World Cup Cricket history.
