West Indies vs India, 4th T20I Stats Review: Rohit Sharma’s feat, Obed McCoy’s unwanted record, and other stats
Obed McCoy has now the best (6/17) and also the worst (2/66) bowling figures for West Indies in T20 internationals.
An all-round performance from the Men in Blue helped them in winning the fourth T20 international against West Indies in Lauderhill in Florida by 59 runs as they clinched the series by a 3-1 margin with one match in hand. Batting first, apart from Dinesh Karthik, all the Indian players touched the 20-run mark as they posted a massive total of 191/5 in 20 overs. The bowlers were up to the mark right from the start as the hosts crumbled in their run-chase and got bundled out for just 132 in 19.1 overs.
Speaking about how the clash went, skipper Nicholas Pooran won the toss and opted to field first. Openers Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma amassed 24 and 33 runs respectively with the latter reaching the landmark of 16000 international runs for India. Deepak Hooda scored 21 while wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant top-scored for his side with his knock of 44 off 31. Sanju Samson mustered 30* off 23 while a cameo from Axar Patel who struck an unbeaten 20 off just eight helped the Asian giants in reaching a huge total.
Obed McCoy, who registered the best bowling figures of 6/17 for the Caribbean side earlier in the series, endured a bad day as he delivered the most expensive spell for the Men in Maroon. The left-arm pacer finished his spell with figures of 2/66 in four overs. The hosts never really got going in the run chase as wickets kept tumbling. Captain Pooran and Rovman Powell both scored 24 apiece but couldn’t manage to contribute more.
Axar Patel delivered his most expensive spell in T20Is as he leaked 48 runs but also took two wickets. Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi snared two scalps each with Arshdeep Singh impressing again with figures of 3/12 in 3.1 overs. With this victory, India have now defeated West Indies in the fifth successive series with their last loss coming in the year 2017. For picking up two wickets for just 17 runs in his four-over spell, Avesh Khan grabbed the Player of the Match award. The fifth and final dead rubber will take place on August 07 (Sunday) at the same venue.
