World Cup 2019: 5 players who might not play the tournament
These players are currently struggling to make it count in the ODIs.
1. MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni has come under the pump in the last few months with his performances. His case has been similar to that of Mathews. Whenever he has got runs, he made sure that he got them in big numbers. But, when he failed, he performed so badly that his retirement demands also came to the fore. While many thought that MS Dhoni will definitely play World Cup 2019 after watching him bat in the IPL, his performances have gone the other way around since then.
In 2018, the veteran has played 15 ODIs for India. In the 10 innings in which he batted, he only managed to score 225 runs at an average of 28 and with a high score of 42*. His strike-rate has gone down to 67 against his career strike rate of 88. In the recently concluded Asia Cup, he scored 77 runs in 4 innings which is deeply saddening. With him turning out to be a burden for the team, and the foray of Rishabh Pant into the international arena, one shouldn’t be surprised if MS Dhoni springs out his retirement call all of a sudden like he usually does.
