The former Australian captain is widely and justifiably regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He led Australia to victory in the 2003 and 2007 cricket world cups and was also a member of the 1999 world cup winning team under Steve Waugh. Ponting is Australia’s leading run-scorer in Test and ODI cricket. He holds the distinction of being the only cricketer in history to be involved in 100 Test victories. He also holds the record to have been involved in the most ODI victories as a player, with 262 wins. He played 375 ODIs scoring 13,704 runs with 82 half-centuries and 30 tons. He completed the set of scoring ODI tons against all Test playing nations with a century against Bangladesh in Darwin on August 6, 2003 which was his 174th innings.
