One of South Africa’s most destructive batsmen ever, Gibbs was known for his outrageous stroke play. His knock of 175 off 111 balls at the Wanderers in 2006, against the Aussies, is arguably the one of the greatest ever in the history of ODI cricket. It helped South Africa clinch a one-day series against Australia in an incredible record run chase. He played 248 ODIs scoring 8094 runs with 37 half-centuries and 21 tons. He completed scoring ODI tons against all Test playing nations with a century against England in Cape Town on February 6, 2005 which was his 159th innings.
