T20 World Cup 2022: 5 Indian players who might not feature in T20Is again
After India's disappointing campaign at the ongoing T20 extravaganza in Australia, certain players might not be in the team's scheme of things going forward.
3. Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin has been a giant of a player in the longest format of the game. He has bagged 442 wickets in 86 Tests and scored 2931 runs at an average of 26.88. He has been a canny customer in the T20 format too and picked 72 wickets in 65 games at an economy of 6.90.
After being left out of India’s white-ball plans in 2017, Ashwin returned to the limited-overs leg with the 2021 T20 World Cup. The veteran spinner was sensational at the marquee tournament picking six scalps in three games. The Tamil Nadu-born was also added to the squad for the ongoing global event in Australia.
The ace off-spinner did a decent job at the high-profile tournament picking six wickets in as many games. However, Ashwin being 36-year-old, age is not on his side. So, given the next T20 carnival scheduled after two years, the Tamil Nadu-born might not be as agile as per the requirements of the dynamic format. Therefore, he might not be in India’s scheme of things for the T20Is.
