2. Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik made a comeback into the international circuit on the back of incredible performances in the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League which saw him hit 330 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 183.33. He played some breathtaking knocks for the Men in Blue too and courtesy of which he was selected for the ongoing T20 carnival.

However, the wicketkeeper-batter, who was roped in to play the role of finisher, did not fare well at the marquee tournament. Karthik could score mere 14 runs in four games at a poor strike rate of 63.63. Following his poor outings, he was dropped from the team in the latter half of the competition.

Karthik is 37 years old and is not at the peak of his powers, and it does not appear his form and fitness will last till the next T20 World Cup in 2024. Thus, he might not fit into the team’s plans going forward. And given the veteran cricketer failed to impress with his showings at the grandest stage, the selectors might not pick him for India’s upcoming T20I assignments.
