Ben Stokes reserves massive praise for Harry Brook by comparing him to Virat Kohli after Multan Test
Harry Brook has registered two centuries in contrasting conditions in Pakistan so far.
Ben Stokes' England completed a thrilling victory in the second Test against Pakistan in Multan to clinch a memorable series victory against the hosts. Young middle-order batter Harry Brook shone for the visitors with two glittering centuries in the series so far with his skipper comparing him to Indian run machine Virat Kohli.
Harry Brook made his debut for England in the shortest format of the game in 2022 and impressed in the T20I series against Pakistan earlier this year. However, he came into the red-ball series with just one game under his belt against the Proteas in September. But the Yorkshireman adapted brilliantly to the longest format of the game, scoring 357 runs in the two Tests so far with two fantastic centuries to his name.
England's influential skipper Ben Stokes praised Brook's impact on the team, hailing him as a rare all-format player. Brook was relatively unperturbed by the conditions in the subcontinent and did not try anything extravagant to counter the Pakistani bowlers. Stokes reckoned that the youngster's uncomplicated technique is very similar to that of Virat Kohli, which works everywhere, irrespective of the venue and the opponent.
“Harry had the summer he had last year and had all the big ups before he made his debut at the end of the summer. To come here and put in that performance again is just phenomenal. He is one of those rare players where you look across all formats and you can just see him being successful anywhere. Massive shout but Virat Kohli is one of those guys where his technique is just so simple it works everywhere," Stokes told Sky Sports.
I think coming to the subcontinent is always a tough place to come and win: Stokes
The English skipper was overjoyed with his side's victory in the subcontinent, which is a tough place to win. England have been near perfect since the appointment of Stokes, and the mercurial all-rounder wishes to achieve special things with the current bunch of players.
“It was incredible to have finished this Test match 2-0 and take the series. There’s some seriously tired bodies up there. I think coming to the subcontinent is always a tough place to come and win cricket, but we know what we have achieved this week, we know that it is something, not unheard of, but very rare to do especially as an English team," he added.
