Rajasthan Royals’ captains changed back and forth quite a bit last season. Ajinkya Rahane was the skipper for the first seven games before Steve Smith stepped in to lead the side. However, when he departed, Rahane was handed the captain’s hat once again. Hence, RR were pretty fickle in that aspect last season.

Ever since they’ve come back from their two-year ban, RR have blown hot and cold. They did make it to the playoffs in 2018 but that’s not a lot to read into. Rahane hasn’t been able to inspire with the bat or with his leadership. Moreover, reports suggest that the opening batsman may be traded with Delhi Capitals (DC). Hence, we may see a new player at the helm next year.

Steve Smith may return as captain. However, there are a few more options at RR’s disposal. Jos Buttler has been England’s vice-captain in white-ball cricket for a while now and he may make a very good captain. His England teammate Ben Stokes may also come into the picture. Hence, RR is another side which may have a new captain for the 13th season of the IPL.
