Vijay Shankar was picked up by the Gujarat Titans for INR 1.4 crore after a battle with the Chennai Super Kings in the auction and he can be a valuable addition with his ability to play in the middle order and roll his arm over if needed. He did not have the best of seasons with the Sunrisers Hyderabad despite getting an extended run.

It has to be noted, Shankar was part of the Indian playing XI in the 2019 World Cup but an injury had pushed him out of the mix. He does have a lot of quality in his batting but is yet to get those big innings under his belt to have a breakout season. The 31-year-old has played 47 IPL games for various franchises since the 2014 edition.

Shankar will have a big role to play in the Gujarat Titans side as he will have to play at four and should be able to adjust according to the situations. He definitely has the calibre to hit the long sixes with pure timing and this might be the opportunity to get back in the reckonings for the Indian team.
