The most overrated cricketers in IPL: Indian Premier League has been the centre of huge attraction from the time of its inception. It is as much the players that provide it the necessary tonic as the concept of the league. But all of this has not gone exactly to script. Over the years there have been several marquee international stars that have not been able to live up to their expectation. Much too often they have promised a lot but only flattered to deceive. Here is a list of seven The most overrated cricketers in IPL : 1. Ravindra Jadeja: Sir Jadeja hasn’t lived up to his nickname at all. Jadeja hasn’t justified the faith put in him. His bowling was soon found out and the predictability towards the end cost him dearly. Jadeja could not prove to be a game changer even with the bat and disappointed with his immature stroke-play. 2. Yuvraj Singh: Yuvraj hasn’t lived up to his name in the IPL. Considering the recent bids he has attracted during auctions, Yuvi has never clicked in the Indian T20 league. Having to deal with fitness issues and poor form right throughout hasn’t helped his cause either. Surprisingly he is the same guy who hit 6 sixes in an over in 2007 T20 WC and played rather slow in the all important 2014 T20 WC final. The current season hasn’t been any better and Delhi has been left much to desire with his performances. 3. Mitchell Johnson: The fiery Aussie pacer has not been able to replicate his international form in the IPL. Proving a bit too expensive on regular occasions Johnson has never been the spearhead of the bowling attack. Overuse of the short ball and predictability seem to be his major problems. Johnson is also criticized for spraying the ball around and lacking the accuracy needed for a high pressure IPL games. 4. Keiron Pollard: Bowl short to him and Pollard looks all over the place. He has a pretty low average even after being around for quite some time. The current position of Mumbai Indians in the points table (the last) is also a fair reflection of Pollard’s performance. 5. Dinesh Karthik: Even this year Karthik has yet not been able to leave his mark in the IPL. (Photo Source: BCCI) The discarded Indian wicketkeeper has been a hot property when it comes to auctions but somehow has failed to convert that into on field performances. He was made a full time captain by Delhi Daredevils last season but struggled to repay the faith in him. Even this year Karthik has yet not been able to leave his mark in the IPL. 6. Richard Levi: The South African dasher was a sensation when he first arrived on the international scene. Obvious weakness against spin and poor shot selection is what ailed him badly. And he no longer finds himself a part of the playing XI. 7. Glenn Maxwell: Glenn Maxwell of Kings XI Punjab. (Photo Source: BCCI) Bought by the Mumbai team for a massive 5 crore Maxwell played just a single game for all the money during that season. Popularly known as the Big Show, he is soon shifted into the Shahid Afridi mould. His poor showing with the willow has also resulted in the Kings XI making him warm the benches in recent games.
